I am literally going to puke!

The Calvary is Here!

Whatever...you GD assholes! You told these people to go to the Superdome where they would be safe and then you leave them there to die without food, water, etc. They did exactly as you asked and you leave them there like animals to die. The bodies of elderly people and children lying around while women and children are sleeping in urine, bathrooms are full of feces and crack pipes and people are being raped. On and on and on.

How in the hell do you set up the one main shelter in New Orleans...being the Superdome, and not have one disaster relief person, Red Cross, Police, etc. there in charge of the shelter? That is totally unbelievable. You knew thousands of people would be there. Not one person in charge of the situation? Not to mention that in Florida, they had cots and supplies in the shelters before the storm. I have a headache.

I cannot fucking believe the richest, most powerful country in the world turned this into the most deadly, goat rodeo in the history of this country. The whole world is shocked that we totally dropped the ball on our own turf. How the hell are we going to win a war if we can't even get this remotely right? Not even close. It's a total disgrace.

There is a blog I have been reading that is being updated by folks in New Orleans by the minute. I read some very disturbing stuff, but was pretty sure I needed to hear it.

This is an excerpt of an interview he had with someone at the Convention Center last night:

"Bigfoot" is a bar manager and DJ on Bourbon Street, and is a local personality and icon in the city. He is a lifelong resident of the city, born and raised. He rode out the storm itself in the Iberville Projects because he knew he would be above any flood waters. Here is his story as told to me moments ago. I took notes while he talked and then I asked some questions:

Three days ago, police and national guard troops told citizens to head toward the Crescent City Connection Bridge to await transportation out of the area. The citizens trekked over to the Convention Center and waited for the buses which they were told would take them to Houston or Alabama or somewhere else, out of this area.

It's been 3 days, and the buses have yet to appear.

Although obviously he has no exact count, he estimates more than 10,000 people are packed into and around and outside the convention center still waiting for the buses. They had no food, no water, and no medicine for the last three days, until today, when the National Guard drove over the bridge above them, and tossed out supplies over the side crashing down to the ground below. Much of the supplies were destroyed from the drop. Many people tried to catch the supplies to protect them before they hit the ground. Some offered to walk all the way around up the bridge and bring the supplies down, but any attempt to approach the police or national guard resulted in weapons being aimed at them.

There are many infants and elderly people among them, as well as many people who were injured jumping out of windows to escape flood water and the like -- all of them in dire straights.

Any attempt to flag down police results in being told to get away at gunpoint. Hour after hour they watch buses pass by filled with people from other areas. Tensions are very high, and there has been at least one murder and several fights. 8 or 9 dead people have been stored in a freezer in the area, and 2 of these dead people are kids.
Rest

Doesn't anyone in the Government or other relief agencies watch T.V.? Even if they turned the T.V. on they would see the 1000's of people close to dying at the Superdome and at the Convention Center. For Christ's sake Harry Connick Jr. was at the Convention Center yesterday. Where were the people with supplies? Harry Connick Jr. said he would do anything in his power to get people to them. Every cameraman and anchor has said the same thing. Did FEMA not hear any of this? Every five seconds the Mayor was demanding help and nothing was being done. His frustration level just grew and grew. Even he was not being given any reason for why nothing was happening.

Yes, areas are flooded. Yes, there are dangerous areas with looters. Yes, this is a horrible catastrophe. That does not explain why you sent 10's of 1,000's of people to two central areas and then made them the last to get any help. It wasn't like they were unaccesible.

All day yesterday people were still wondering why the buses weren't coming and all of the Guard's trucks would just drive by along with empty buses... and no one would stop. If nothing else couldn't someone in the safety of there vehicle tell the crowd that they would in fact be back to get them. Any information at all, instead of just pretending they didn't exist. That had to be the most incredibly cruel and torturous experience. They had no information. I would have started to lose hope too.

So, here's the best part of all. I read that Paula Zahn from CNN was interviewing the head of Fema. Yeah, the guy in charge of all of this. This is unfuckingbelievable. She basically asked him why they weren't getting to those people in the Convention Center and this guy says..."We didn't know they were there until today." Yep, that's what the idiot fucking said. He also goes on and basically blames this whole mess on the victims. You can read the transcript here.

We have been doing the evacuations from the Superdome for several days. We are taking people out from the Superdome to Houston and to San Antonio. The people in the Superdome have been fed. There are convoys of trucks moving food in there to feed them even tonight. We're taking the Coast Guard and we are taking care of the people who have just appeared on the bridges and the interstates, to get them water tonight. We're doing all of those things.

That interview was from yesterday. Bullshit! None of those people got food or water until after they made the 350 mile trip to the Astrodome. Then they went through Triage, and then a shower and then they had a warm meal. Those people at the Superdome have been fed? Idiot. He must be so fucking delusional that he thinks were not watching the T.V.that he obviously isn't watching.

Anyway Mr. Brown is full of crap. This is what he said on Tuesday:

WASHINGTON - The nation's top disaster relief official said Tuesday that Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and that additional medical personnel were
being moved in to treat evacuated hospital patients.

With at least one New Orleans hospital threatened by Katrina's floodwaters, patients were being transferred to the Superdome, said Michael Brown, director of the, Federal Emergency Management Agency' and medical personnel were being sent in to treat them.

What happened to the part where you sent people in to treat and help them? I know that the patients from the hospitals were out first, but what happened there. The medical staff left with the patients and the first group to evacuate? You knew how bad the conditions there were and you ignored it.

Who was minding the store...I ask myself again. I am pretty sure I know why the Mayor called the efforts by FEMA a total disgrace and I couldn't agree more. The Mayor basically loses it here.

Thank God the calvalry finally arrived. It was just 26 hours after Mr. Brown stated it had already happened. I predict a job opening at FEMA.
